How transport zones work

Transport zones are not the same as enrolment zones. An enrolment zone decides which schools your child is entitled to attend. A transport zone decides whether the Ministry of Education will fund their bus ride. Both are set by the Ministry, but they use different boundaries and often don't line up.

The rule that matters for transport is the 'nearest appropriate school' rule. Your child qualifies for a free bus pass if they are travelling to the nearest school - of the right level - to your home. If your family chooses a different TTNG school instead, your child is still welcome on the bus, but as a fare-paying student rather than an eligible one.

Use the Ministry map above to see the transport boundaries for your address. If you're unsure how the nearest-school rule applies to your family, contact EasyBus and we'll walk you through it.
